My Story

I’m not your typical handyman. I actually do this work because I love it, not because I have to.

Over 20 years ago, after finishing an undergraduate degree in English, I was in graduate school and found a job working on campus as a carpenter. I found that I loved the work, and it became a hobby for the next 20 years as I pursued a career working for various non-profits around the state of Texas. My very patient wife and kids endured my remodeling projects over the years, and I picked up skills in plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and roofing.

About 6 years ago, the company I was working for made some changes and I found myself looking for work. One day while sitting at a computer researching companies and sending resumes, a friend called and asked if I would mind doing a quick job for him that was outside the scope of his contractor. After it was done, another friend called and then another. Soon I didn’t have time to continue sending out resumes and keep up with the requests for work. After a month or two, I realized that I loved the work, and maybe I should consider this as my new job.

So, I decided to set out on my own and start a handyman business. I know that’s an odd choice, but here’s the deal…

I love working with my hands and helping people — it’s what I was already doing in the non-profit world – and a handyman business is just a perfect fit.

Now I love what I do and with my background I’ve developed the skills to fix just about anything!
